About Sugaring

Sugaring hair removal uses a paste similar to warm caramel to remove hair. "The paste—which is made up of lemon, sugar, and water—is safe, all natural, and uses no chemical additives. It can be applied to any area that has unwanted hair and is then removed in the direction of the hair growth, thereby pulling out the entire hair without breaking the hair shaft. While sugaring will also stick to the upper layer of dried skin cells, when it is removed it exfoliates as it takes the hair. Unlike waxing it removes the hair from the root, without breakage so there won't be a 5 o'clock shadow a week after the procedure.

First, the skin that's going to be sugared is cleansed. Then, powder is applied, so the sugar doesn't stick to the skin. Once the skin is prepped, the sugar paste is applied while it’s slightly warm against the direction of hair growth. The paste is then removed in the direction of hair growth." Yep, that's it! No cloth strips or sticks needed.

Over time (and with consistent upkeep), you'll notice a reduction of hair growth. Even better, the hairs that do grow in will be thinner, finer, and sparser. One caveat: You'll need about about an eighth- to a quarter-inch of hair growth in order for the sugar to be able to catch the hairs. Just like with waxing, you'll have to be OK with a little fuzz in between appointments.
